It's hard, right?!

Of course, it is the best job in the world. And of course, you love them to bits and know you are lucky to have them. But sometimes it's just hard and confusing, and you don't know how to get it right. And you're tired!

Being a parent is demanding and rewarding, and each stage of your child's life brings new challenges and joys. It's ever-changing - the baby years are different from the toddler years, and those are both different from the childhood, teenage, and young adult years. But what remains the same is that you are their parent, and you have a crucial role to play in their development. 

With this package For Parents, I'm offering you the time and space to look at what you want from your parenting. Establish the short-term or long-term goal, and how you can work towards that within the dynamic of your busy family life. You have the answers within yourself, but sometimes it helps to have someone to show you how to see them.

Coaching

Coaching is not therapy, or counselling, or mentoring, but a process of focused listening and incisive questions that will enable you to work out what you want and how to get there. We are always looking forwards, never backwards, and we are always working towards a positive outcome. It is a joyful experience!

Why it works

You are in a stage of life where you rarely have time to stop and think. There are many demands on your time and energy, and you can often feel pulled in various directions without feeling that you are ever enough. These sessions provide you with the space to breathe. They provide you with a pause, where you can recalibrate, remind yourself of the direction you want your parenting to go in, and find ways that will help you to get there. You are enough, sometimes you just need the chance to reset and refocus.

How it works

The For Parents package is a set of six sessions, spaced out over a number of weeks to give you time in between to reflect and put any ideas into action. If you're not sure about committing to a package that's fine, you can book session by session and see how you go. The sessions feel like a chat, but there is a process going on that will help you to gain clarity of thought and an understanding of what you can do to move towards your goal.

In the first session, we will look at what that goal might be and how that fits into the context of your family life. You'll leave with some thoughts or actions to consider.

The second session builds on any actions or observations you have made, and looks at whether there is anything you need to adjust or adapt to keep moving towards your goal.

Session 3 will be celebrating your success so far and deciding whether you want to continue with the same goal in mind or to move on to another area of challenge. 

Session 4 will address the progress or otherwise since the third session. As family dynamics can ebb and flow, it may be that other factors have come into play at this stage. 

By the fifth session, you will have a far stronger understanding of yourself as a parent and what you want that to be. This session will include some reflection on what you have learned about the positive impact your parenting can have. 

The final session is for celebrating what you have achieved, and acknowledging how much more peaceful you feel now than when you started the sessions. You will realise that you have brought about this change yourself, and that you know how to take this forward as your family grows. You'll leave this session with further goals that you will be able to work towards yourself.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions take place online or face to face, depending on proximity. Sometimes just getting out of the house can be helpful, so I offer a walk and talk option for you to stretch your legs while you clear your mind!
